A Dive into Art at River Beach

, 10 minute read

The journey towards Artsmark Gold for River Beach has been long and peppered with challenges thanks to Covid-19, but embedding creativity into the curriculum really paid off when Ofsted came calling. Sandra Ackerman, Arts Specialist Teacher, talks about their deep dive into art.

An image of two young people sat on their desk, painting. One child is laughing whilst the other has his head down, concentrating on his painting.

Huge congratulations to all 27 Artsmark schools who have been shortlisted in this year's Tes School Awards! From 'Creative School of the Year', 'Headteacher of the Year', 'New Teacher of the Year', the list goes on.

Levelling Up Places Service

The new joint Arms Length Body (ALBs), Levelling Up Places Service has been launched. Arts Council England and Historic England are the two main ALBs supporting this service, with staff in both organisations providing advice to those who are receiving the DCMS Levelling Up Fund.

The Service will:
  • Provide help to areas who are struggling to deliver their funded schemes
  • Support places that are most in need of accessing the Arm’s Length Bodies’ resources for levelling up
  • Draw together the expertise and resources of the ALBs to help deliver Levelling Up outcomes for culture, heritage and sport projects.

Local places in receipt of the Levelling Up Fund are most likely to deliver better heritage and culture projects because of the advice they receive from the ALBs in the Levelling Up Places Service.
