I design and draw things for books. Whether it’s designing a book cover published by Penguin or writing and drawing my own books, creativity is a large part of my life. 

Creative learning is not a soft option. Subjects such as art and design, dance, drama and music should be part of every child’s education. They inspire inquisitiveness, persistence, imagination, discipline and collaboration – but they’re also worth learning for their own intrinsic benefits.

Students and staff at Ricards Lodge High School on Lake Road, welcomed a special visit from Department of Culture, Media and Sport’s Arts, Heritage and Tourism Minister, Michael Ellis on Thursday 11 October as part of Artsmark Celebration Week, our national celebration of arts and cultural education.

As part of UK Parliament Week 2018, Iain Duncan Smith MP visited Churchfields Junior School to celebrate their prestigious Artsmark Gold Award, and hosted a debate with pupils, on Friday 16 November. Churchfields Junior School was awarded their fifth Artsmark Gold Award in July 2017, in recognition of the strength and vibrancy of their approach to arts and culture.
