About Artsmark

What is Artsmark?

Understand, strengthen and be recognised. Artsmark is a national award and development programme that helps schools put arts and culture at the heart of education by recognising achievement, supporting improvement and fostering connections.

Artsmark has always been about recognising and championing schools that place arts and culture at the heart of education. As we move into this new chapter, we’re building a programme that is more flexible, more supportive and better equipped to help schools showcase the incredible work they do.

We’re open to everyone: primary, secondary and special schools, as well as hospital schools, pupil referral units, youth offending teams, virtual schools and sixth form colleges in England are eligible for Artsmark.

Why Artsmark?

  • over 25 years’ experience transforming schools through arts and culture
  • proven to support pupil outcomes and wellbeing, teacher recruitment, retention and confidence, and whole school improvement
  • inspiring nearly two million pupils across 4,000 schools every year
  • a large community of Artsmark schools dedicated to sharing best-practice and learning from each other
  • a CPD learning programme delivered by Goldsmiths, University of London
  • the only award for arts and culture provision in England accredited by Arts Council England
  • outstanding value for money with one £500 investment or £250 for schools with 100 pupils or less. Find out more about our costs.

Quote from Hurlingham School

“Artsmark is a fantastic way of focusing on what you already do well as a school and highlighting what you could still strive to do. It has driven us to take steps to ensure that a strong arts culture is embedded within our School Development Plan.”
