Why should schools do Artsmark?

Artsmark is changing, and we’re inviting you to come along with us.

We’re evolving Artsmark to make it more flexible, accessible and responsive to the needs of schools, while continuing to champion high-quality arts and cultural education. Registrations are currently paused but you’ll be able to apply for a new Artsmark Award in Spring 2027. Be the first to get involved by registering your interest.

Artsmark empowers schools to unlock the power of arts and culture, inspiring children and young people to find their voice, realise their potential and live their best lives.

Whether you’re taking your first steps and looking for friendly, expert support through our Strengthen and Connect strands, or you’re ready to be recognised for your commitment to arts and culture through an Artsmark Award, we’re here to support you every step of the way - created with schools, for schools. Our new Award strand will be live in Spring 2027 with our Strengthen and Connect strands coming in September 2027 and developing across the academic year.

Artsmark has always been about recognising and championing schools that place arts and culture at the heart of education. As we move into this new chapter, we’re building a programme that is more flexible, more supportive and better equipped to help schools showcase the incredible work they do.

Award: a flexible approach that supports schools to apply and submit their application when they’re ready. An Artsmark Award demonstrates school’s commitment to and arts provision and remains accredited by Arts Council England and the only award for arts and culture provision in England.  Our new Award strand will be live in Spring 2027.

Strengthen: tailored guidance, resources and support to help schools develop and enhance their arts and cultural provision. A new online self-audit tool will offer practical next steps linked to the Artsmark Framework. Coming in September 2027.

Connect: opportunities to share practice, build networks and learn from a vibrant community of like-minded schools. From networking to peer-learning opportunities, online spotlight sessions, and events that showcase effective practice from schools across the country.  Coming in September 2027.
